5 years ago, on
The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) of Ghana and the New Mexico Technology University (NMT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to undertake activities aimed at furthering the cause of the two institutions. Among others, the two Universities, under the partnership considered introducing joint degrees that will see students studying in both Universities and getting separate degrees awarded by the two Universities.
The University becomes the third after the KNUST and UMAT to have a relationship with the NMT, a very highly ranked University in the US. The Vice Chancellor of the UENR, Prof. Harrison Dapaah, led the UENR team while the NMT team was led by the President of the University, Stephen Wells.
Speaking before the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Prof Dapaah noted that as a young University, UENR needs all the support it can get to achieve its purpose of establishment, adding that the partnership with NMT fits into the institution’s development strategy.
For his part, the president of the NMT, Stephen Wells said the partnership will among others involve joint research, conference and exchange programmes for beneficiaries that would come at a reduced financial expense.
A member of the NMT Delegation Dr. Robert Balch touched on the joint courses plan, which will see two students spend two years at UENR and another two at NMT, he adding that such initiative will give students international exposure.
